Our client, a large healthcare system with over 55 Locations and 10,000 employees, acquired new medical facilities that required an introductory Citrix installation, and a system-wide upgrade and data migration was necessary from Citrix 6.5 to 7.5. Not only was the timeline of migration and consolidation of October 1st, 2016 aggressive, but the sizable scale of the operation was a clear challenge to surmount. Additionally, internal IT employees were reluctant to give consultants full control in the initial phases of the operation. Some of these engineers were attempting to change the technical environment prior to the “go live” date, which would conflict with the migration.
CyberSearch provided a team of two architects and six engineers with Citrix expertise, along with a dedicated project manager. This team leader was tasked with ensuring that each portion of the project was followed through and communicating to all stakeholders as the team worked on the migration, building, and testing of the technical environment. Daily project plan meetings were held regarding the project timeline and status, and included Citrix vendor representatives and constituents from the various healthcare system locations as necessary.
With an emphasis on communication and a diligent work ethic, the Citrix migration and implementation was successfully completed by the October 1st deadline. As is often the case with such a large-scale software overhaul, some instabilities were discovered but quickly alleviated as the technical environment post-migration continued to be monitored. The healthcare system IT Director was very pleased with the results, as the user-friendliness of patient record access improved and data-related processes were streamlined.
